Housebuilder acquires southern developer

Housebuilder Galliford Try has announced that its partnerships business has completed the acquisition of a leading developer in the South of England.

Southampton-based Drew Smith Group – which comprises Drew Smith Limited and Drew Smith Homes – specialises in mixed-tenure developments, land promotion and planning services.

The acquisition comes as part of Galliford Try Partnerships’ new strategy to target growth and increase housing supply in key regions where it has yet to establish a presence.

“We are really excited to have reached agreement with Drew Smith, which is a great fit for our growing business,” said Stephen Teagle, chief executive of partnerships and regeneration for Galliford Try.

“The southern region holds great potential for us to expand our regeneration offering and help accelerate delivery.

“We look forward to working with new and existing clients to bring forward opportunities to increase the supply of new homes in the area.”

The current management team and staff at Drew Smith will remain in place, working within the Galliford Try group to accelerate its growth plans.

Drew Smith Homes recently completed a 47-home scheme in Fair Oak, Hampshire.
