Boxpark set to open in Wembley

Brent Council’s planning committee has granted approval for Boxpark to open in Wembley later this year.

The pop-up mall – which has sites in Shoreditch and Croydon – will open on a former car park site at the corner of Fulton Road and Olympic Way (aka Wembley Way).

Boxpark is made up of shipping containers used as food and retail outlets.

The Wembley site will be a steel-clad building and the first such site to have a roof.

There will be 29 units for food and drink vendors as well as a large ‘cultural hub’ for events and community workshops with a capacity of up to 2,000 and a smaller venue for 300 people.

Boxpark’s move to Wembley is the latest development in the wider regeneration of the area led by developer Quintain, which has also seen the London Designer Outlet built.

"Wembley's already known the world over, but this news from Boxpark shows how far the area has come in becoming so much more than a match-day destination,” said Cllr Shama Tatler, cabinet member of regeneration, employment, skills and growth at Brent Council.

"There's a real buzz being generated about the place and Boxpark's arrival in Brent will not only be good news for start-ups looking for space or for artists looking for somewhere to perform, it will also help to bring more people to the area which will be a boost for other local businesses, too."
