The site has outline planning approval for up to 165 residential units, however, Barratt will submit a reserved matters application to deliver new homes.
Barratt Homes has scheduled work to begin on the site in summer 2018.
Holly Stiles, senior land manager at Barratt Manchester, said: “We are very happy to have secured this fantastic development site and look forward to delivering much-needed housing in Tintwistle.”
Planning consultant Nexus advised BXB on the project, while Mason Owen advised on the funding for the initial acquisition and CBRE Manchester advised on the sale.

Gary Goodman, director at BXB Ltd, said: “This marks the first project completed by BXB.
“Our team has done a fantastic job in bringing the land back into productive use in a really short space of time, and we are delighted that a sale has now been agreed with Barratt Homes.”
BXB acquired the brownfield site in January 2017, which had remained derelict for over 10 years.
The development site is located off the New Road on the banks of the River Etherow.
