The Solicitors Regulation Authority has issued the warning after an email was sent to a member of the public claiming to be from Anderson Law Firm Pc and Anderson Law Pc.

The emails which claimed to be from Chris Anderson SQL of Anderson Law Firm Pc, indicated that the recipient may be a trustee of properties and a trust fund account left by a deceased individual.

This is the second time Chris Anderson’s identity has been misused to front a scam email this year.

The regulator confirmed that they did authorise a firm called Andersons who were based at 19 South End, Croydon, Surrey, the same address used in the scam email, but the firm closed on 29 December 2013.

They also confirmed that they authorise and regulate a person called Christopher Anderson who worked for Andersons but the SRA has been informed that he and the former genuine firm has no connection with the scam emails.

If you receive correspondence claiming to be from Anderson Law Firm or Anderson Law Pc the SRA urges you to act with due diligence and to contact the law firm directly.

You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised and verify an individual's or firm's practising details.
