Surrey County Cricket Club has reached its target of raising £5m for its stadium expansion in only seven days…

The Surrey Cricket Club Bond was due to close on 28th September but strong support by club members meant the full amount needed to redevelop the Kia Oval was raised within a week.

The club has benefitted from a strong commercial performance in recent years, hosting a number of England test matches, One Day and T20 Internationals.

Richard Thompson, Chairman of Surrey County Cricket Club, said he was delighted with the support their members had shown by investing in the bond.

“The speed at which the funds have been raised was faster than we ever anticipated, and not only demonstrates the loyalty of our membership, it also highlights the commercial strength of the Club,” said Richard.

“These funds enable us to invest in the Kia Oval and give Surrey County Cricket Club the home that it deserves.”
