Number One Kirkstall Forge reaches practical completion

CEG has announced that its Number One Kirkstall Forge development in Leeds has reached practical completion.

The scheme is now almost 70% pre-let and will become the headquarters of Zenith Intelligent Vehicle Solutions, with CEG also relocating there.

The building is the first phase of CEG’s £400m, 57-acre, mixed-use scheme and is set to provide 1,500 new homes and 400,000 sq ft of offices, retail, leisure and community space.

The development is 3.5 miles away from Leeds city centre and connected by a new railway station.

Wates Construction provided the interior fit-out of the development and Paul Dodsworth, business unit director of Wates Construction in the North East and Yorkshire, said: “It’s immensely rewarding to see Number One Kirkstall Forge reach practical completion.

“It’s been a fantastic project to work on and our team has been honoured to deliver such a significant development for Yorkshire.

“Building on our success at Kirkstall Forge and providing a lasting legacy is our unique Forging Futures Campus, where we’re kick-starting new construction careers for the people of Leeds and the surrounding areas.”

Wates Construction established the Forging Futures Campus within the scheme in January 2017 in collaboration with CEG, Leeds College of Building and Leeds City Council.

The campus was built to provide sustainable skills and local employment outputs.

According to Wates, Kirkstall Forge is the largest brownfield site currently being redeveloped in Leeds.
