Capital Land Property Group submits planning permission for 1,800-home scheme

Capital Land Property Group has submitted a planning application to develop land known as ‘Great Stall East’, which is part of Swindon’s New Eastern Villages (NEV) scheme.

The application covers over 86 hectares (approximately 213 acres) and will provide up to 1,800 homes, including affordable housing, significant education provisions, a sports hub and open spaces, and a local centre providing a range of mixed uses.

Swindon’s New Eastern Villages has proposed an 8,000-home urban expansion scheme to the south east of Swindon.

Capital Land Property Group is now a significant player in the NEV proposals after successfully acquiring more land earlier this year.

The developer and housebuilder is now in control of over one-third of the land –around 300 hectares (approximately 740 acres) – in Swindon Council’s NEV scheme.

Capital Land has also established its own associated company Capital and Country Homes, which will play an active role in constructing and delivering a significant amount of the scheme.

Jeremy Francis, chief executive of Capital Land Property Group, said: “I am extremely pleased to submit this planning application for Great Stall East.

“It has come after many months of hard technical work and it follows very constructive and collaborative meetings with Swindon Council – all culminating in a public consultation held in September.

“[The] involvement of local people in our decisions is key and I want that dialogue to continue while the application goes through the democratic process.

“I want to thank all those involved with the project for helping us achieve this major milestone.”
