Annual PROPS Awards Lunch raises £345,000 for Variety

The 27th annual PROPS Awards Lunch raised £345,000 for Variety, the Children’s Charity.

The event – held at the London Hilton on Park Lane last Tuesday (8th May) – was hosted by ex-England rugby union international Martin Bayfield.

Since it was established in 1992, the ceremony has generated over £10m for the charity, which has helped to provide 2,000 powered wheelchairs for disabled children across the UK.

Since Variety was established in the UK in 1949, over £270m has been raised by the charity, which has funded over 5,500 Sunshine coaches, custom-made wheelchairs and has helped thousands of children affected by ill-health, disability and disadvantages.

Neil Sinclair, chair of the PROPS (pictured above), thanked all the attendees for their generosity at the awards and congratulated all the winners.

“The funds raised at the annual PROPS lunch allow Variety to help disabled and disadvantaged children across the UK make the most of their childhood.

“We are deeply grateful for the generosity [of] all our donors, who help improve the lives of some of the most disadvantaged people in society.”

Duncan Syers, chief barker of Variety, the Children’s Charity, said he was incredibly grateful for all the donations made at the lunch.

“£345,000 is an incredible amount of money raised.

“Thanks to the industry’s generosity, we will help improve the lives of disabled and disadvantaged children up and down the country.”

Michael Dean, principal at Avamore Capital and a member of the PROPS committee, added: “It was great to see Finlay, a Variety client, show the amazing things Variety does for young, disabled children.

“Martin Bayfield was on top form as the event’s host and the food was really good, too.

“I’m a very proud committee member and can’t wait for next year.

"I wholeheartedly encourage others from within the short-term finance industry to get involved next year as it’s a great opportunity to meet people in the wider property industry and make new connections.

“Before that, of course, we’ve got our sister event called the PROPS Breakfast in November, of which I’m co-chair and really looking forward to that, too."
