Ion secures planning permission on 22-hectare development

Property developer Ion has secured planning permission to develop a new 22-hectare mixed-use scheme in North Huyton, Liverpool.

The development (pictured above) will be built south of the Knowsley Estate in collaboration with Bellway Homes and the Knowsley Estate.

Earlsfield Park will provide a 16-hectare employment park and 154 homes.

The development could create over 800 construction jobs in addition to over 650 jobs for the local community when it’s built.

Traditional office and workshop spaces will be built alongside advanced manufacturing research and development facilities, and sub-regional logistics business spaces.

Retail and leisure will also be provided with a hotel, a pub/restaurant and a 3km pedestrian and cycle route.

Steve Parry, managing director at Ion Development, said: “We are delighted to secure planning permission on the Earlsfield Park development and look forward to seeing it take shape.

“Earlsfield Park will be instrumental in supporting the region’s ambition to grow our technology and manufacturing base and provide a high-quality environment that can support science, technology and advanced manufacturing.

“The location of the development provides brilliant accessibility and the flexibility of the site means it can cater for the specific demands of anything from manufacturing and laboratories to small start-ups and the corporate HQs of global businesses.”

Cllr Tony Brennan, cabinet member for regeneration and economic development at Knowsley Council, said: “This development of high-quality new homes and employment opportunities will not only contribute towards the council’s ambitious growth plans for Knowsley, but it will also contribute towards the economic growth of the Liverpool City Region.

“Earlsfield Park will become an attractive location for both businesses and families who are looking for high-quality accommodation in appealing surroundings.”
