Cambridge ranked as UK's most gentrified city



Cambridge has been ranked as the most gentrified city in the UK, according to new research.


The report from GoCompare ranked the top 10 cities in the UK for gentrification based on several categories, including the increase in property prices, council investment, salary increase and services provided.

Aberdeen came second in the rankings, with London third.

London’s property value has increased the most in the past 13 years, with prices rising 239% in that period.

Portsmouth has seen the biggest salary increase with wages rising 28% between 2010 and 2016.

Reading topped the services provided rankings, which includes the number of coffee shops and M&S/Waitrose shops per 1,000 people, as well as the price of a pint and a cappuccino.

Council spending has been most prominent in Oxford with £39 spent on housing per person and £41 on planning per person.

Cultural investment in Aberdeen is now one of the highest in the UK at £110 per capita.
