Housing minister visits self-build community

Housing minister Kit Malthouse has visited Graven Hill in Bicester to see the progress of the area’s self-build community.

At Graven Hill, individuals can design homes on pre-prepared plots and are limited only by their budget.

Up to 1,900 unique homes will be built over 10 years, along with a primary school, a pre-school nursery and a community centre.

The homes will be surrounded by open, green spaces including woodland, allotments and a network of cycle routes and footpaths.

Cherwell District Council hosted the MP, which provided it with an opportunity to showcase the project.

Malthouse said: "It has been marvellous to be here and wonderful to see the energy at Graven Hill.

“This is an infectious, ambitious project providing the housing needed for the growth and success of the town."
