James Brokenshire MP, communities secretary, made the announcement last week which supports the government’s aim to invest over £200m in the British coastal regions by 2020.
The funding will go towards supporting innovative businesses, protecting historic buildings, new museums and the restoration of coastal heritage sites.

“I am determined to support investment and development of our coastal communities and create an economy that works for everyone as we prepare for Brexit and beyond,” said Brokenshire.
“The sheer range of ideas demonstrate the potential of our coastal communities and will all create good jobs, boost growth and improve people’s lives now and in the future.”
This news follows the government’s recent announcement of a £1.6bn Stronger Towns Fund to boost economic activity in less prosperous parts of the UK.
