Knight Frank to purchase 100% renewable electricity

Knight Frank has revealed that it will only purchase 100% renewable electricity for its properties under management.

The property consultancy has entered into a contract with Total Gas and Power until 2021, whereby Knight Frank’s properties will use over 360,000,000 KWH of power at a cost of more than £75m.

This commitment to providing 100% renewable power will lead to a reduction of over 100,000 tonnes of CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent) by 2021, which is the equivalent of taking nearly 17,000 cars off the road.

“Alongside our initiatives to drive energy and resource efficiency in the buildings that we manage, procuring our power from renewable sources is a visible and meaningful commitment to responsible property asset management,” said David Goatman, partner and head of energy and sustainability EMEA at Knight Frank.

“This procurement is wholly supported by our clients and occupiers and is a clear example of us playing our role in reducing the substantial carbon emissions associated with the UK commercial real estate sector each year.”
