REDD receives planning for 'Covid-19 compliant' development in Mayfair

REDD has secured planning permission from Westminster City Council for a ‘Covid-19 compliant’ £40m GDV mixed-use development in Mayfair, London.

82 Mount Street is a 10,000 sq ft scheme with Covid-19 safeguarding and homeworking features.

It will offer lower-ground floor offices, a luxury brand ground-floor retail boutique, and five upper floors providing apartments and a penthouse.

Consultation between the London-Monaco luxury property company, Grosvenor and the council took place before and during lockdown.

The project’s professional team includes architectural practice Formation Architects; Savills, which will be advising on planning and heritage; and specification and interiors will be led Leo Bertacchini of 1508 London.

The development is a freehold end-of-terrace Victorian mansion building, located on the corner of Mount Street and Balfour Place.

Construction work to redevelop the property into the mixed-use scheme will start in the autumn of 2020, with the build scheduled to complete in late 2021.

Off-plan marketing for the three lateral apartments and duplex penthouse will commence early next year.

The build will be focused around residents’ ability to socially distance, with ‘no touch’ lifts using contactless fobs, and anti-viral material is set to be utilised for finishes and surfaces within the communal and private living spaces.

The apartments will be fitted out with a commercial internet system and a desk space that can accommodate a professional workstation set-up.

Russel Smithers, managing director at the REDD operation in London

Russell Smithers, managing director at the REDD operation in London, said it anticipated a lot of interest in the project.

“REDD are delighted to have achieved consent for this landmark Mayfair development, which is the result of us working closely with Grosvenor and Westminster City Council to develop a design that will reinvigorate this important building, while still respecting the heritage context.”
