Developer breaks ground on student accommodation scheme in Birmingham



Birmingham developer, Volume.Property, has broken ground this week on the first phase of a PBSA scheme on Hanley Street in central Birmingham.


The initial phase of Volume.Works includes the construction of 47 student studio apartments.

The project is part of a larger two-phase scheme with 154 student beds. 

The second phase is currently in planning for the remaining 107 beds, and the developer expects a decision in September.

Tricas construction is the main contractor, with RLF and Naismiths as EA and QS respectively on this project.

"As with most development projects, it has not been without its challenges,” commented Anthony Laville, CEO and founder of Volume.Property (pictured above, second from left).

“We're proud to have overcome these with a great team on board to get to this point, despite being in the middle of what [are difficult] economic conditions. 

Students are expected to be able to move in from September 2021. 

“We’re not into the typical student accommodation look and feel,” Anthony added.

“Everything from amenities to the size of apartments sit outside of the norm for the sector. 

“It's exciting times ahead as we continue on our growth path.”

Volume.Property is behind a number of other developments in Birmingham, including Bridge Street Studios — a student collection scheme consisting of 70 flats which also commence construction this month — in addition to a number of PRS schemes in the pipeline.

Volume.Property targets major towns and cities in the UK, supporting the PRS, co-living and PBSA sectors.
