Mizen gets green light for Sutton mixed-use development

Property developer Mizen has been granted planning permission for a six-storey mixed-use development in Sutton, south London.

The Prince Regent scheme — named after the derelict public house currently on the site on Sutton high street — was designed by Harp & Harp, and will offer 30 apartments over ground-floor retail space, together with associated car and cycle parking.

The flats will be a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units, all with private balconies set back from the high street.

The development was approved by Sutton Council on 7th October, following an extensive consultation with both public interest groups and the local authority.

The building will encompass a façade which harkens to the area’s Victorian architectural heritage, with chamfered corners at the front, a range of brick and stonework, and a set-back colonnade.

The property developer expects the new homes will most likely appeal to young professionals and first-time buyers, with Help to Buy also expected to be available.

Bernard Tansey, chairman at Mizen, said: “It is great news that Sutton Council has approved our plans to deliver our vision for the redevelopment of this historic site.

“We have been developing in Sutton as part of the major redevelopment master plan announced by the local council in recent years, especially along the high street.

“We are very proud to continue playing our role in helping to transform it, for both workers and residents, adding to the diversity and energy of what the bustling high street has started to become once again.”
