Modular housebuilder TopHat to deliver homes for Building Better framework

Goldman Sachs-backed modular housing firm TopHat has secured a place on the Building Better framework.

The framework, supported by the National Housing Federation and delivered by Procurement for Housing, is a strategic alliance of housing associations working together to realise the benefits of offsite manufacturing.

It aims to deliver over 500 units per annum over the initial four-year term, and comes as housing associations look towards modern methods of construction that can deliver more sustainable homes, faster.

It is also designed to provide members with access to a single provider.

TopHat has obtained a ‘Lot 1’ of the framework and will undertake the groundwork, develop the site and deliver the homes from their factory in South Derbyshire.

“Covid-19 has hit key workers and lower-income households the hardest,” said Andrew Shepherd, managing director at TopHat.

“Therefore, it’s essential that as the economy begins to bounce back, the housebuilding industry delivers high quality, energy-efficient homes for those who kept the country running throughout the last year.

“We are very pleased to have secured a place on the Building Better framework and feel strongly that our accredited method of delivery can help contribute to economic and social recovery.”
