Brendon Walsh

Former council regeneration director joins property developer

Be Living has appointed Brendon Walsh (pictured above) as its strategic consultant to help expand its private sale and build-to-rent portfolio.

Brendon joins from Hounslow Council, where he was previously director of regeneration, economic development and environment, but will remain as chair of the Heathrow Strategic Planning Group.

He is an established figure in regeneration, having delivered complex schemes across west London and south Oxfordshire, including the Orchard Centre in Didcot, Acton Town Hall and Brentford Football Club.

“I’m proud of what I helped achieve at Hounslow in the last five years and feel this is the right time to accept a new challenge,” said Brendon.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to play a part in Be Living’s growth by unlocking the potential they have to deliver a significant quantity of homes.”

Brendon’s appointment follows the arrival last year of former GLA deputy mayor for housing Ric Blakeway as a strategic adviser.

Be Living – a residential developer borne from Willmott Dixon – hopes that Brendon will add his knowhow and experience of unlocking land opportunities and town centre master planning to support its land strategy as well as provide counsel on a number of current developments.

“Brendon is a brilliant addition to our team, bringing an impressive track record of taking major developments from concept stage through to reality,” said Andrew Telfer, deputy chief executive at Be Living.

“Brendon’s insight in getting complex, multi-phase regenerations through planning and on to site will be invaluable, helping us turn brownfield sites into thriving new communities.

“His breadth of knowledge of housing and unlocking opportunities, alongside that of Ric Blakeway, gives us high-level input to take forward our plans to create new communities that allow thousands of people to buy and rent a Be home across London.”
