Puma appoints healthcare head

Puma Property Finance has appointed Tony Throp (pictured above), as head of healthcare, a newly created role for the lender.

Tony will be responsible for expanding Puma’s current healthcare lending franchise which includes several care home developers such as LNT, Angela Swift and Newcare.

He joined the organisation in 2012, working as an investment manager for Shore Capital Group — Puma Property Finance is part of Puma Investments, a subsidiary of Shore.

In 2017 he became a director at Puma Property Finance.

In this time he has grown Puma’s healthcare lending business and helped facilitate the supply of over 2,300 care beds with a total value of over £500m.

Prior to Puma, Tony held roles at RBS and PriceWaterhouseCoopers - working in the debt advisory and corporate finance teams at the latter.

“Our business has grown substantially in recent years and our longstanding support of the healthcare sector has been a major part of that success story,” said Paul Frost, managing director of Puma Property Finance.

“Tony is widely recognised as a leader in his field, and his appointment as Puma’s first Head of Healthcare is a recognition both of his efforts in building our healthcare franchise, and our commitment as a business to continue investing in this vital sector in the years to come. I wish him every success and look forward to the growth he will surely deliver.”
