GS8 secures 'significant investment', hires former shadow minister

Housebuilder GS8 has secured a “significant” investment from TPG Angelo Gordon and Ridgeback Group, also hiring former shadow minister Luciana Berger as a strategic advisor.

The undisclosed sum will be used to grow GS8’s pipeline to circa 1,000 homes per annum over the next five years.

GS8 has already transacted on three projects in connection with this investment.

These are a 113-home site in Epping Forest, a 100-home site in Three Rivers and a four acre site in Buckinghamshire.

Berger, a former Liberal Democrat and Labour MP, has held numerous shadow cabinet roles.

Her political career has included being shadow minister for energy and climate change from 2010 to 2013.

GS8 focuses on environmentally friendly homes and regenerative housing developments.

In its developments, renewable energy developed on-site — in partnership with Octopus Energy — exceeds the annual energy consumption of these homes.

“The UK’s housebuilding sector is known for being slow to adapt, and we feel now is the time for real and fundamental change,” said Josh Gordon, co-founder of GS8.

“Our planet-positive framework delivers environmentally conscious, high-performing, design-led housing, as we focus on simplifying construction by taking a rationalised approach to housebuilding, proving high-quality housing doesn’t need to cost a fortune or impact viability.

“We have worked with leading industry partners to establish a regenerative, community-led housing solution that both maintains our design ambitions and doesn’t demand a premium — and we believe this represents the future of sustainable housebuilding in the UK.”
