Vistry and Bloor Homes green lit for 826-home development in Crewe

Vistry Group and Bloor Homes have secured planning permission for 826 new homes in Leighton West, Crewe.

The plans were given the green light at a meeting of Cheshire East council’s strategic planning board on 27th June.

The site gained planning permission in 2020 and was approved in four reserved matters applications for eight parcels of residential land.

Included in the plans are 84 affordable houses and 12hectares of land for enhanced green infrastructure and landscaping.

The development plans to contribute £5.6m to improving local community services and facilities through a serviced and level site for a primary school, and a £708,850 additional contribution to providing the school, as well as £4,526,500 towards highways improvement works, among other contributions.

Joe Turner, managing director at Vistry Manchester and Cheshire East, said: “We’re really excited that this development has been given the go-ahead following approval of the detailed plans by Cheshire East.

“We’re pleased to be working alongside Bloor Homes to deliver homes in this growing area that will give local people a range of housing choices.

“The additional contributions brought about by this development will help to create a thriving community in the north-west corner of Crewe, benefiting the wider area for future generations to come.”

James Clark, regional managing director at Bloor Homes, added: “We are delighted to have achieved these reserved matters approvals which will allow us, together with our delivery partners Vistry, to deliver the much-needed homes on this important strategic site.”
