Persimmon Welsh eco-friendly development greenlit

Persimmon has secured delegated approval for a 72-home zero-carbon ready development in Wales.

The Saundersfoot site has received a boost from Pembrokeshire Coast National Park which has given delegated approval to grant permission for the development.

Plans include a range of detached, semi-detached, terraced houses and apartments ranging from one to four bedrooms — these will be finished in render and stone.

Of the homes developed, 25 will be transferred to a local housing provider for rent and shared ownership to help alleviate pressure on Pembrokeshire’s housing list.

The homes are designed to be zero-carbon ready. The International Energy Agency defines these as properties that are highly energy efficient using either renewable energy directly or energy supplies that will be fully decarbonised by 2050.

Sustainable drainage systems will be included in the development of the site with bioretention areas and rain gardens, as well as air source heat pumps, solar panels and EV charging points.

Stuart Phillips, managing director of Persimmon Homes West Wales, welcomed the support.

“Throughout the planning process, we have worked closely with officers and stakeholders to ensure that our homes are in keeping with – and enhance – the local area and its surroundings,” said Stuart.

“I’d like to thank officers and the project team for their collaborative efforts during this process.

“Persimmon has an established record of delivery in Pembrokeshire, and we are excited about this latest scheme as we continue to build the best value homes in sustainable and inclusive communities for local people.”
