Persimmon secures land for 3,000 homes

Persimmon Homes has completed the purchase of a Northampton land plot that could deliver up to 3,000 homes.

The site, called Harlestone Grange, has been purchased from trustees of the Althorp Estate.

Of the 3,000 homes that can be built on the land, Persimmon will deliver 1,933 of these with 967 being built by David Wilson Homes — the rest will be managed by West Northamptonshire Council.

In addition to boosting local housing supply, £28m has been pledged towards the local area with over 8000 trees to also be planted on the site.

Zac Hurst, managing director for Persimmon Homes Midlands, said work will begin imminently on the site.

“This is a hugely exciting development that will not only unlock a whole host of new homes for local people, but it will also generate significant job opportunities throughout the lifespan of the project and leave lasting community benefits,” added Zac.

Earlier this week, Persimmon Homes Midland named David Ablett, an internal promotion, to oversee construction in the region.

David had already been working with the Northampton-based team for 12 months after joining from Barratt Developments where he spent two decades.
