Greenlight for 1,260 Persimmon homes in Hartlepool

Persimmon has received planning approval to build 1,260 homes in Hartlepool.

Built in five phases, the development will include a range of one- to five-bedroom houses with 121 properties being transferred to a local housing association or sold at a reduced market rate. All homes will include EV charging ports and solar panels.

A reserved matters application has now been submitted by Persimmon for phase one of the development, concerning the construction of 316 homes including bungalows and apartments.

A local centre, including a primary school, medical centre and restaurant will be developed alongside the new homes.

As part of this, Persimmon is contributing £6m towards education provision and £1.2m to improvements at Wolviston Services and A689/A1185 junctions — the site itself is located between the AS689 and Brierton Lane.

The housebuilder is also contributing £200,000 towards local sports facilities, with money also providing new play equipment for existing play areas nearby.

“With the need for new housing rightly high up the political agenda, we’re delighted to be working on these exciting plans for new homes in Hartlepool,” said Richard Holland, land and planning director at Persimmon Teesside.

“A range of properties will be available for homebuyers set amongst nearly 50 hectares of public open space with excellent pedestrian and cycle links into the town centre. We’re looking forward to working with the council, residents and local stakeholders to deliver these plans that will provide around £8 million of funding in local infrastructure.”
