Persimmon expands housing targets for 2025

Persimmon has expanded its housing targets for 2025, after a successful 2024 which saw completions and profits alike increase.

The housebuilder is now targeting 11,000 to 11,500 completions for 2025, after completing 10,664 homes in 2024 - 7% more than the previous year.

Persimmon’s new housing revenue grew 13% to £2.86bn during this time, with underlying pre-tax profits increasing by 10% to £395.1m.

In expanding its completion target for 2025, the housebuilder’s management pointed to improvements in the wider housing market which were evident in its forward sales activity.

In the first nine weeks of 2025, Persimmon’s net private sales rate per outlet per week was 0.67, up 14% compared to the same period last year.

Combined with a 3% increase in the private average selling price to £288,542, the housebuilder’s current private forward order book is £1.15bn, or 27% higher year-on-year.

“The underlying market fundamentals remain strong and we are encouraged by the further improvement in our sales rates in the early weeks of this year,” said Dean Finch, group CEO at Persimmon.

“The government’s welcome planning reforms and pro-housebuilding agenda demands more of the high-quality, affordable homes which are Persimmon’s core strength, providing a positive tailwind.”
