The first site, in Mapplewell, will host 239 homes on brownfield land allocated in Barnsley’s local plan.
Full planning permission is already in place for, with construction due to begin shortly on properties ranging from two-bedroom bungalows to four-bedroom detached houses.
The second site is at Carlton where Vistry has recently secured and will soon progress detailed proposals for 215 homes.

This will include a £1m investment in local education alongside highway improvements and enhanced biodiversity measures.
“Together, these new developments will make a real difference to Barnsley, both in terms of housing supply and the wider investment that comes with it,” said Andrew Poyner, managing director at Vistry West Yorkshire.
“Bringing a former mining site back into use, investing in schools and infrastructure, and making sure half the homes are affordable is exactly the kind of balanced growth our model enables, and what communities want to see.”
