Regentsmead has recently assisted a Judas Priest rock star win three major gongs at the UK Property Awards after funding the construction of his golf resort.

Regentsmead, an established provider of residential development finance, found its golden touch once again after helping one of its clients, a Grammy award-winning guitarist and founding member of rock group Judas Priest, KK Downing, scoop three major gongs at the recent UK Property Awards hosted in Grosvenor Square.

The lender has stated that KK Downing has now realised his vision of creating an award winning golf resort, the Astbury Estate in Shropshire. The estate is endorsed by golfing legend Darren Clarke and currently appears on the PGA Euro Pro Tour.

Regentsmead stated that it is funding the construction of luxury holiday lodges on the estate, which can already boast several accolades even before a spade goes in the ground.

The five star awards, including Best Residential Development Shropshire and Best Golf Course Development UK means that worldwide acclaim is now on the cards, which is decided within the grand final in Dubai later this year.

Commenting on the successful development, James Bloom, Chief Executive of Regentsmead, said: “This is a perfect example of how working with an experienced and flexible lender that can think outside the box can help create a quality end product.

“When we first met the guys from The Astbury, it was clear they had a vision that we were able to buy into and support. We are now almost there, and with access to funding, we hope they can go on to win many more accolades.

“With further plans for the Darren Clarke village in place, and working with Ken and his exceptionally creative team, the possibilities going forward are endless and we hope this is the first of many awards we can help The Astbury win.”

In regards to the development, Ken stated: “When I was challenged to a game of golf in the 1980s by Def Leppard, I never thought that my life would take the route it has. For decades I have focused on the course and the way it plays, but now we’ve been able to take that up to another level with the addition of award-winning real estate.

“In the past three years The Astbury has gone from a modest nine-hole golf course to receiving international recognition and having Darren Clarke as our global ambassador. It’s a very exciting time to be a part of The Astbury team and this will give us the platform to push on to even greater projects.”
