Nikal has announced that it has launched a new construction arm in order to fill a gap in the market.
The Manchester-based developer which was formed in 2003 and has a philosophy to create developments with lasting sustainable benefits, has launched a construction arm, named Nikal Special Projects (NSP), which will carry out medium-sized building projects.
The new venture will be headed up by Construction Director, Mark Hopkins, where it will focus on developments up to the value of £5 million. However, Nikal noted that it can also deal with schemes from £100,000 and over.
Commenting on the new launch, Mark Hopkins said: “We believe there is a gap in the market for someone to deliver high quality small and medium sized projects – too big for a small builder but too small scale for the large construction firms. This is a natural progression for us, something born out of our own experience and frustration when we have had to get down and dirty to complete projects ourselves.
“We have developed our own direct supply chain which means we can drive greater value and superior quality. We have employed administrative back-up and experience to deliver schemes efficiently and to the highest standard.”
NSP has revealed that it has already gained a forward order book of £5 million worth of contracts. These include residential and office schemes within the Manchester and Birmingham regions.
Mark added: “We think there is huge potential for smaller scale schemes of character which become viable when you strip away the layers of profit to multiple subcontractors.”
Also commenting, Nick Payne, Nikal's Managing Director, said: “This has been an organic process. We will always be primarily focused on major town and city regeneration projects, but see NSP as an important part of our growth strategy and commercial delivery.”
