The London Garden Bridge, which will be free and open to everyone, received planning consent from Westminster Council on 2nd December.
The Garden Bridge will be the first of its kind in the UK to offer not only a new public garden with beautiful views up and down the river, but also provide a vital crossing to link the North and South Banks and an alternative route for commuters.
The Garden Bridge Trust, the UK registered charity overseeing completion of the Garden Bridge, has been engaging with local communities and stakeholders to ensure any concerns are addressed, as well as working with planning authorities to make sure all planning conditions are met.

The Trust is also pleased to confirm that three contractors have been shortlisted for the next stage, which aims to proceed in mid–December, with construction of the Bridge to start in late 2015.
It is anticipated that the Bridge will open to the public in 2018.

Professional services firm EY have also announced their support for the Bridge.
Chairman of the Garden Bridge Trust Lord Mervyn Davies feels the iconic new project will create new green space in the centre of London for all to enjoy.
