Civil engineering firm Britcon has delivered a half million pound contract to design and build extended facilities at Leeds based Wildlife tourist attraction - Tropical World.
The council managed tourist attraction has received an extension to its café which will see a structural steel frame with lantern roof with a new retractable glazing to the large terraced area.
The job presented a number of logistical challenges as the site needed to remain open during the work and the area is landlocked by the main road with listed perimeter walls and public gardens which severely restricted access to the work area.
Tropical World was required to close for a period however the site is due to reopen tomorrow.
A statement on its website read: “We will reopen at 1pm on Tuesday 24 March. This follows some stunning renovations that have seen our aquarium area transformed into a new Amazon themed zone where you can see new residents including Piranhas and Salamanders.”
