Tottenham Hotspur Football Club has finally reached a resolution with a family business which obstructed the redevelopment of the club’s stadium.
The Premier League side has entered a private agreement with Archway Sheet Metal Works Ltd and the Josif Family to purchase their commercial property on Paxton Road which previously stood in the way of the club’s development of their White Hart Lane stadium.
The business has been given until later this year to relocate until the club will take possession of the land.
Previously, Archway Sheet Metal Works Ltd and the Josif Family Trustees challenged the decision made by the Secretary of State to place a compulsory purchase order on their land for the football cup’s stadium regeneration. This challenge was rejected at the High court.
Now Chairman, Daniel Levy, hopes the club will be able to deliver a world class home for their supporters with pre development work and site clearance work already under way.
“We are aware that both our fans and the local community are eager to see the stadium delivered as soon as possible and we shall be working to do so,” said Daniel.
“I must however urge patience in the interests of getting the best possible outcome for all and ensuring that we progress diligently. It is a hugely complex and large-scale project.”
A minor material amendment to its planning permission has been requested Haringey Council regarding a basement level on site.
The club plans to move the car parking onto the basement level, neighbouring the plant and furniture storage. This will vacate some ground floor space for enhanced media facilities and expanded player changing areas.
