A famous Grade II listed property in London has now come onto the market.

The property in Mortlake was captured by English Romanticist landscape painter, watercolourist and printmaker JMW Turner in two of his works of art and previous owners of the home include Lady Byron and Garnet Wolseley.

The seventeenth century building has now been converted into luxury flats and the 3-bedroom penthouse is on sale for £2.2m.

There are two roof terraces which offer views of the River Thames and the new owner of the penthouse would also have access to communal gardens at the front of the building, sat behind private gates and a parking space.

Amy Reynolds, of Chestertons in East Sheen, said: “The building’s fascinating historical background makes it one of the most unique properties in our portfolio.

“It is an ideal home for those with an interest in art and culture but also outdoor activities due to nearby Bank of England Sports Club, The Roehampton Golf Club and Sheen Lawn Tennis and Squash Club.”

Past well-known figures which have lived in the area of Mortlake and East Sheen include Catherine Tate, Omid Djalili, Sir Trevor McDonald and Andrew Marr.
