Plans for a “sky pool” to connect two 10-storey buildings in London have been unveiled.
The pool, at Embassy Gardens on the South Bank, will allow residents from each block to swim across to the other.
The vision, said to be the first of its kind in the world, belongs to Ballymore Group Chairman and CEO Sean Mulryan.
Ballymore, along with partner company Eco World, will be responsible for the Nine Elms development.
“I wanted to do something that had never been done before,” said Sean.
“My vision for the sky pool stemmed from a desire to push the boundaries in the capability of construction and engineering.”
Sean continued: “At Ballymore we like to push the boundaries on all aspects of design: the Sky Pool’s transparent structure is the result of significant advancements in technologies over the last decade.”
“The experience of the pool will be truly unique, it will feel like floating through the air in central London.”
The 25m x 5m pool, which is entirely transparent, will be more like an aquarium than a pool, with glass that is 20cm thick.
