A 116-year-old building contractor firm has been placed into administration.

W. Braithwaite & Son Limited, based in Liverpool, has been a building contractor and shop fitter since 1899.

The firm carries out work for various blue chip companies including hospital trusts, universities, councils, banks and building societies.

Andrew Mackenzie and Nick Reed of Begbies Traynor have been appointed as joint administrators.

Andrew said: “Unfortunately, over the last 12 months, the company has suffered a number of issues resulting in the current financial difficulties.

“The majority of the 22-strong staff have been made redundant, but a skeleton staff of seven remains to complete certain contracts.

“The company has a strong reputation and an excellent track record, and we are currently looking for expressions of interest for the business and or the assets of the company.”

Begbies Traynor will be handling the company's affairs until further notice and anyone with any links to the firm who wish to find out more click here.
