The Trump Organization has threatened to end all investment in the UK if Chairman Donald Trump is banned from entering the country.
Later this month, parliament will debate a petition which is asking to ban Mr Trump from the UK after the US presidential candidate called for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims from entering the United States in December.
However, Trump Organization has threatened to pull £700m worth of investment in the development of Scottish golf courses if Mr Trump is barred.
“Any action to restrict travel would force The Trump Organization to immediately end these and all future investments we are currently contemplating in the United Kingdom,” said George Sorial, Executive Vice President and Counsel at The Trump Organization.
“Westminster would create a dangerous precedent and send a terrible message to the world that the United Kingdom opposes free speech and has no interest in attracting inward investment.”
The Trump Organization is planning to invest £200m into the development of Trump Turnberry resort in South Ayrshire and is proposing to invest a further £500m to develop a 1,400 acre course in Aberdeen.
Prime Minister David Cameron has already made it clear that he completely disagrees with Mr Trump’s remarks, while Home Secretary Theresa May called his remarks in relation to Muslims ‘divisive, unhelpful and wrong.’
Mr Sorial however, added: “Many people now agree with Mr Trump that there is a serious problem that must be resolved.
“This can only be achieved if we are willing discuss these tough issues openly and honestly.
“This would also alienate the many millions of United States citizens who wholeheartedly support Mr Trump and have made him the forerunner by far in the 2016 presidential election.”
Parliament will debate the banning of Mr Trump to the UK on 18th January.
