10 Admiral Grove in Toxteth, Liverpool was home to the Beatles’ drummer until he was 21 and attracted interest from across the country.
The highest bid was made by Fab Four fan Jackie Holmes from London who also owns the house of John Lennon’s mother in Allerton and George Harrison’s home in Speke.
“I’m so glad I’ve got this house because Ringo’s childhood home, like the other two Beatles properties I own, have got so much history behind them, which is what I love about them all,” said Jackie.
“I’m a massive Beatles fan so I’m delighted.
“With this property I’m probably going to rent it out, ideally to a Beatles fan who I know will look after the house and cherish it.”
The home was sold by Plus Dane Housing which will reinvest the profit from the sale back into the community.
The housing association has put restrictions on the sale of the home to prevent it from becoming a tourist attraction or museum.
“This is a great result for the local community as we have been able to secure a good price for the property at auction, which we’ll now look to reinvest back into Plus Dane homes in the L8 area on neighbourhood projects that will benefit tenants,” said Claire Griffiths, Executive Director of Property at Plus Dane.
Tony Webber, Auction Surveyor for Countrywide Property Auctions, which organised the auction, concluded: “We are happy with the result as it has exceeded its market value of around £50,000 with a premium rate.
He said it was: “A good night all round.”
