Application submitted for £30m development

Real estate investor and developer Scarborough Group International (SGI) has submitted a planning application for the next stage of its £30m commercial development in Newport, South Wales.

The phase two proposals include an additional 45,000 sq ft of office space, which will be named ‘Interface’.

Kate Howe, Associate Director of Scarborough Group said: “We are excited to have reached this latest stage in delivering the mixed-use regeneration scheme at Station Quarter.

“It is clear that Newport is in need of new, high quality, office accommodation in order to support the City’s economic growth and build upon the already successful regeneration of Newport City centre.

“We hope to secure planning consent in the coming weeks which will enable development delivery preparations to move forward through 2016 in order to deliver a landmark building for Newport.”

Scarborough completed the first stage of the redevelopment, Admiral House, in May 2014.

Admiral House features 80,644 sq ft of office accommodation for Admiral Insurance, and can accommodate approximately 1,200 staff.

The building also contains 28,000 sq ft of dedicated retail and leisure space, in addition to a public plaza.

Property consultants Knight Frank and Cook & Arkwright acted as joint agents for the second stage of the development.
