Refurbished golf course fetches £1.7m

A private client has scooped almost £1.75m after completing the sale of a recently refurbished golf course.

The private client instructed Savills to sell Huntswood Golf Club on Taplow Common Road in Buckinghamshire with the adviser offloading the property to a private leisure operator.

The 18-hole golf course also features a spacious modern clubhouse with a recently refurbished bar and restaurant area, which contains an outdoor terrace with views over the golf course.

Originally opened as a nine-hole course in 1996 and extended in 2002, the freehold interest that was acquired includes the original golf course, clubhouse, car park and woodland areas.

The area that comprises the extra nine holes is held under a 21-year ground lease that expires in 2024.

Huntswood is currently an exclusive club with a core group of members with further income generated through green fees as well as weddings and other functions.

“The sale of Huntswood Golf Club close to its guide price [£1.75m] demonstrates the continued demand for well-located golf course assets, especially in the Home Counties,” explained Ian Simpson, director of leisure and trading at Savills.

The sale of Huntswood follows a deal for a course in Scotland earlier this year, which was purchased for development.
