The land includes two golf courses located at RAF Henlow, Bedfordshire, and Southwick Park, Fareham.
Mr Fallon, who confirmed the estate optimisation strategy would aim to reduce the size of the defence estate by 30% over the next 25 years, had questioned the need for the golf courses in a speech on defence reform.
This is the third mass release of land from the MoD this year, which will provide up to 39,000 new homes in total and generate £930 million.
Mr Fallon said: “We are getting rid of land that we don’t need to build homes that we do, generating hundreds of millions of pounds in the process.
“Our commitment to protect and increase the budget for our armed forces means that every penny of that will be reinvested into defence, helping to keep Britain safe.”
