Trump's Scottish golf course posts loss

The Trump International Golf Club in Scotland has made a total loss for the financial year ended 31st December 2015 of £1.1m.

The loss was a slight reduction on 2014’s £1.14m loss on the pay-per-play championship links golf course.

Donald Trump, his two sons and one of his daughters are listed as the directors of the Scottish golf club, which also contains a boutique house hotel, golf house shop, bar and restaurant.

Last year was the third full playing golf season at the course and saw the completion of the permanent clubhouse along with the appointment of a new sales and marketing team.

After green fees were maintained at the highest level, overall revenues for 2015 were 7.4% higher than in 2014.

In its annual report released recently, the golf club stated that the rise in profits came despite the economic downturn in the North East of Scotland due to the collapse of oil prices resulting in a number of redundancies for the region.

The club announced that it will continue to expand and develop during the next year with further capital investment planned.
