Cannon Road in north London was named Affordable Housing Development of the Year by Inside Housing with the scheme containing 222 new homes, all of which are in the ‘affordable’ price range.
The development is one of the first to be delivered as part of the regeneration of Tottenham, which will include the building of a £400m stadium for the Premier League club.
Cannon Road was opened by Tottenham Hotspur and Newlon Housing Trust in November 2015 after the redevelopment of a disused rubber factory.
The housing development also contains a new primary school as well as its own combined heat and power plant.
“We are committed to investing in our community and ensuring local residents have access to affordable housing and quality education facilities,” said Daniel Levy, chairman of Tottenham Hotspur.
“This prestigious award is recognition of the fantastic scheme that Newlon Housing Trust has worked hard with us to deliver as part of our continued aims to transform the Tottenham area.”
Mike Hinch, chief executive of Newlon Housing Trust, concluded: “We are delighted that Cannon Road has won this award, which recognises the transformation of this part of Tottenham High Road from a brownfield site into a thriving and sustainable new community.
“Cannon Road is a landmark development which contributes to the ongoing regeneration of the area driven by Spurs’ new stadium project.”
