British Land in talks to sell London's Cheesegrater building

British Land has confirmed that it and its joint venture partner are in advanced discussions over the possible sale of their interests in The Leadenhall Building in the City of London.

The real estate company and Oxford Properties currently own the building in a 50:50 joint venture.

Opened in 2015, the Leadenhall Building – also known as ‘the Cheesegrater’ – comprises 610,000 sq ft of office space over 45 floors.

The building was also named City of London Building of the Year 2015.

The cheesegrater is now one of London’s most recognisable landmarks

In July 2016, British Land and Oxford Properties completed the leasing of the Leadenhall Building when Kames Capital, MS Amlin and Rothesay Life committed to taking the last three remaining floors.

British Land stated that it was not certain that these discussions will lead to the sale of the building and that it would make further announcements when appropriate.

The real estate company currently owns or manages total assets of £19bn in its portfolio of high-quality UK commercial property.
