The proposal is focused on delivering up to 320 new homes in the community of Sun Lane.

The residential and commercial property developers have consulted with the community of New Alresford since 2014 to come up with the strategy.

Steve Culpitt, land and planning director at Seaward, said: “Throughout this process we have been committed to supporting the aspirations of New Alresford Town Council and the local community for the town on this site wherever practicable, including cut grass walking and cycling trailers and wildflower and long grass meadows.

“A park and stride will be introduced to the south of the open space and we are in discussion regarding the safeguarding of land for a community building adjacent to the park and stride.”

Seaward also plans to redesign the A31 junction to accommodate all east and west movements surrounding the site and allow vehicles to travel straight to the M3 junction.

Winchester City Council will formally consult on the plan, with a final decision on the outline application expected in autumn 2017.
