The housebuilder has acquired the land at RTÉ’s Montrose campus in Donnybrook for €107.5m (approximately £96.5m).
The site is situated next to RTÉ’s broadcasting headquarters and provides an opportunity to develop a mid- to high-end housing scheme of up to 500 units, subject to planning permission.

A statement from Cairn Homes said: “The acquisition of the RTÉ Montrose site is another milestone for the company as it continues to implement its strategy of building exceptional homes in great locations.
“The company is now fully focused on the design and pre-planning stage with a view to achieving a planning permission befitting the quality and location of the RTÉ Montrose site.”
The site was put up for sale in March 2017 through property consultants Savills.
Donnybrook is recognised as Dublin’s premier residential business and embassy district and has been considered the pre-eminent residential address.
