Retirement housebuilder McCarthy & Stone surveyed 2,700 of its customers and followers to find out which are the most popular seaside towns.
Almost a fifth (18.5%) of those surveyed voted for Salcombe as their top destination, followed by Weymouth in Dorset (16.1%) and Whitby in North Yorkshire (12%).

- Salcombe, Devon – 18.5%
- Weymouth, Dorset – 16.1%

- Shanklin, Isle of Wight – 6.2%
- Deal, Kent – 5.9%
- Worthing, West Sussex – 5.7%
- Hastings, East Sussex – 3.9%
