Round Hill Capital appoints chief executive for student housing arm

Real estate investment and asset management company Round Hill Capital has appointed Brian Welsh (pictured above) as chief executive of the Nido Collection – the student accommodation investment and operational platform.

Brian has joined Round Hill from the Student Housing Company Ltd and its development arm ThreeSixtyDevelopments (formerly known as Knightsbridge Student Housing Ltd), where he was the chief operating officer from January 2011.

At the Student Housing Company, he was responsible for the strategy and leadership of a team which purchased, operated, developed, refurbished, financed and disposed of over 14,000 beds across Spain, the UK and Ireland.

Brian has more than 12 years of experience in the student accommodation and PRS markets across the UK and Europe, where he has previously been responsible for the development and management of over 20,000 beds.

Brian will lead the expansion of Round Hill’s student accommodation business, as well as exploring the extension of the brand and operational platform into alternative asset classes.

He will be responsible for spearheading the business’s investment, development and operational strategy across the UK, Ireland and continental Europe, and further developing the group’s wider international ambitions.

Brian said: “Round Hill is in the process of completing a number of significant transactions and developments in the student accommodation sector and has a strong identified pipeline of fantastic investment opportunities.

“I am really happy to be joining Round Hill to lead and expand the Nido Collection team at this exciting time.

“I look forward to accelerating Round Hill’s expansion across not only the UK, continental Europe and into wider international markets, but also into other related assets classes, such as co-living.”
