Develop Warwickshire to provide £25m in support of 1,700-home development in Nuneaton

Warwickshire City Council (WCC) has received final outline planning permission for its 1,700-home scheme in Nuneaton.

In addition to the new homes, the development will see the construction of two new schools and community facilities through WCC’s joint venture with the Warwickshire Property and Development Group and mixed-tenure developer Countryside Partnerships.

The joint venture – dubbed Develop Warwickshire – is set to contribute more than £25m worth of funding to enhance the local community infrastructure, including £10.5m towards education and £6.7m towards highway improvements.

The project was initially agreed by Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council’s planning committee in last May subject to Section 106 contributions, which have now been agreed with the assistance of Leamington-based law firm Wright Hassall.

John Gregory, partner and head of planning at Wright Hassall, said: “This is a really important outcome for Develop Warwickshire and Nuneaton.

“It not only secures much needed housing for the area, 25% of which will be in the form of affordable housing, but also the provision of land for the development of new leisure and education facilities for the community.”
