The news follows the creation of four new departments by the prime minister Rishi Sunak:
- the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero — tasked with securing a long-term energy supply for the UK, bringing down bills and halving inflation
- the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology — created to drive the innovation that will deliver improved public services, create new and better-paid jobs and grow the economy
- the Department for Business and Trade — which will focus on supporting growth by backing British businesses at home and abroad
- the Department for Culture, Media and Sport — created to recognise the importance of these industries to the UK’s economy
