HBD gets green light for £140m GDV scheme in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter

Property developer HBD has secured planning permission for the delivery of a £140m GDV scheme in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.

The Neighbourhood project will comprise 414 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, as well as a range of amenities, including private gardens, a roof terrace, social spaces, a gym and lounge, WFH areas and a concierge.

Designed with wellness in mind, the scheme will also include extensive planting and gardens alongside a range of features to allow residents to live as sustainably as possible.

Residents will also have access to new public spaces and a select mix of independent bars and eateries.

HBD expects work to start on site early next year, with completion scheduled for 2026.

This is the developer’s second project within the city’s Jewellery Quarter.

Simon Raiye, director at HBD, said: “Neighbourhood is a really exciting scheme for the Jewellery Quarter, creating a vibrant new community and a new urban garden for everyone to visit and enjoy.

“Its outward-facing design will give an inclusive feel and allow the scheme to blend into its surroundings, enriching the quarter and creating an important new community gathering place.

“We can’t wait to get started and see the project begin to take shape next year.”

Adam Brady, executive director and head of urban regeneration at HBD, added: “We’re very proud of Neighbourhood, which fits into our strategy of creating thoughtfully designed and sustainable communities.

“We work hard to deliver a positive impact on the communities where we work, providing a lasting-legacy for the area.

“As always, we’re keen to collaborate with the very best local artists, makers and producers to really add to the exciting Jewellery Quarter ecosystem.”
