Godwin appoints new development director for industrial and logistics

Godwin Developments has promoted Marcus Phayer (pictured above), to development director for industrial and logistics.

Marcus heads up Godwin's industrial and logistics division, which focuses on delivering development opportunities with strong ESG credentials.

The division targets a mix of large-scale strategic land promotions, sites with outline planning for speculative development and the repositioning of well-located last-mile sites, that have potential for refurbishment or redevelopment.

Overseeing all stages of the property development process in his division — from site identification and deal structure, to planning promotion, delivery, lettings and fundraising, supported by an in-house team — Marcus will now have increased responsibility as the business continues to expand in the sector under his leadership, as well as lead an expanding team and delivery of the company’s increasing pipeline.

Marcus has over a decade of experience in the sector — including previous positions at industrial and logistics business, Tritax Symmetry and global commercial real estate investor, CBRE.

Commenting on his promotion, Marcus said: “Leading Godwin’s industrial and logistics portfolio growth has been rewarding and I am excited to step into this new role.

“Our core strategy for industrial and logistics is to secure prime sites, located in close proximity to key motorway and A-road networks.

“We are focusing on the creation of modern, institutional-grade assets, built to the highest ESG standards — [incorporating] green spaces, biodiversity and social value principles from the start.”

Matt Chandler, managing director at Godwin added: “We have ambitious plans for the sector and are delighted that Marcus will be spearheading this drive — working with partners across the industry to grow our team and portfolio of projects nationwide”.
